Very good copy of one of Stackpole's earliest works. 157 pages. Deep wine-colored boards, gilt titling on spine and front board, and TEG. Rubbed on corners and lightly bumped. Dusty and soiled on inside boards, pages otherwise unmarked. Known mostly for his History of Dunning, Durham, Winthrop and other New England pioneering communities, (along with Old Kittery and Her Families), Stackpole (1850-1927) was a pastor of Congregational Church, Bradford, Massachusetts. His first recorded work was The Evidence of Salvation (about 1895), also published by Thomas Crowell. Prophecy followed in 1986. Previous owner's stamp on ffep. A nice copy of an exceptionally hard book to find.
